Wrestling and movies have gone together for decades. This was partly spurred on by the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE). It is undeniable that Vince McMahon understood the benefits of working with the much larger Hollywood. From Wrestlemania I to today with WWE Films, the WWE athletes have crossover appeal. It is not just WWE though, there are many non-WWE athletes, many never set foot in a WWE owned ring, that have also starred in movies. The five wrestlers in this list are just a sampling of the total number that have appeared in movies. How many did you know about?

WCW Backstage Assault Makes Even Hardcore Fans Board on the Nintendo 64 – Today in History – December 12th, 2000
It is no secret that World Championship Wrestling (WCW) had their share of problems. Lack of a deep locker room was not one of them. The biggest problem that WCW faced was themselves. They had no clear vision as to what they wanted to present fans. The revolving door in the executive lounge was not […]

They had no clear vision as to what they wanted to present fans. The revolving door in the executive lounge was not helping either. You would think this would be limited to the television show. You would be wrong as WCW Backstage Assault proves that this lack of understanding the fan base reached far and wide. WCW Backstage Assault was published by Electronic Arts, who apparently didn’t understand what a good wrestling game was either. Wrestling has one iconic item that is shared between EVERY organization in the world. The ring. Too bad Backstage Assault forgot this fundamental requirement.

Imagine a crossover event between wrestling companies. We may be seeing the start of one. All Elite Wrestling crowned a new champion on their first episode of December for their show Wednesday Night Dynamite. At the end of the night, Don Callis left the arena with the AEW champion. When asked what was going on Callis stated all would be made clear on Tuesday night on Impact. This set the wrestling fans into a frenzy as to what that might mean. I am going to look at one potential outcome of this crossover – admittedly the most farfetched potential outcome.

30 Minute Midas Touch Podcast Debuts on YouTube, More Platforms Coming

The 30 Minute Midas Touch podcast has just debuted on YouTube. The host, “Golden Boy” Greg Anthony, is old school as it gets. Greg Anthony has held probably every position you can in wrestling, in and out of the ring. He is now adding podcasting to his resume. As with all debut productions there are some rough edges but what is here is golden, if you will pardon the pun.

WWE Release Zelina Vega from Contract, More to it

Zelina Vega is one of those under the radar talents. She is not someone that had multiple championships in WWE. She is mostly known for being a manager to Andrade. Vega only recently seriously started pursuing a singles career on Smackdown on Fox on Friday nights. She is also one that hinted at support on Twitter for unionizing wrestlers. The question is, why was she released early from her contract? Especially at a time when WWE is protecting anyone and everyone they can with extended “stay at home” contracts? Was it the unionizing idea or something else?
